WHAT WE'RE DOING

Scientific Diving
Empowered by Honouring Tradition

We have been collaborating with Indigenous communities to develop a culturally inclusive scientific dive training curriculum that honors traditional cultures and languages while maintaining the safety and standards of scientific diving. Our program aims to promote underwater bio-mapping and coastal monitoring initiatives with a focus on:

  • Engaging with youth leadership programs to empower the next generation of environmental stewards through First Nations Coastal Guardian Watchman initiatives.

  • Conducting invasive species monitoring and eradication programs to enhance endemic ecosystem health and resilience.

  • Supporting the revival of traditional fisheries, including clam garden harvesting, salmon, and herring fisheries, to promote cultural preservation and sustainable resource management.

Throughout the program development and implementation process, we prioritize community engagement, consultation, and leadership, ensuring that respect for local traditions and values is at the heart of our work.
